The Power of Copper: Why It’s My Favorite Metal for Wire-Wrapped Jewelry

When I began my journey into wire-wrapped jewelry, I experimented with different metals—sterling silver, gold-filled wire, and copper. Each had its own beauty and energy, but copper quickly became my favorite. While I do use silver and gold in my creations, copper holds a special place in my heart because of its deep spiritual significance and physical benefits.

A Metal with a Story

Copper is one of the oldest metals known to humanity, dating back thousands of years. Ancient civilizations, from the Egyptians to the Native Americans, recognized its power. It was used for everything from tools and currency to healing rituals and spiritual adornment. There’s something powerful about working with a metal that has been revered for so long—it carries history, wisdom, and a connection to the past.

Spiritual Benefits of Copper

Copper is known as a conductor—not just of electricity but of energy. In metaphysical practices, it is believed to amplify the energy of crystals and intentions, making it the perfect metal for wire wrapping. When paired with crystals, copper enhances their natural vibrations, helping the wearer connect more deeply with their healing properties.

Many also believe that copper balances the chakras and aligns spiritual energy, making it an excellent tool for those seeking grounding, protection, and transformation. It’s often associated with Venus, the planet of love and beauty, which aligns perfectly with my intention of creating jewelry that is not only beautiful but also meaningful.

Physical Benefits of Copper

Beyond its spiritual properties, copper has long been used for its physical healing benefits. It is believed to support circulation, reduce inflammation, and relieve joint pain. Many people wear copper bracelets to help with arthritis or muscle stiffness. The body can also absorb small amounts of copper through the skin, which is essential for energy production and overall well-being.

Bare copper interacts with the body, creating a unique relationship with the wearer. Some people notice a greenish tint on their skin after wearing copper jewelry—this is simply the metal reacting with your body’s natural chemistry. It’s harmless and, to many, a sign that the copper is working its magic.

Why I Love Working with Copper

There’s something about copper that feels raw, earthy, and alive. Its warm tones complement all skin tones, and over time, it develops a natural patina that adds character to the piece. The process of wire wrapping with copper feels more organic to me, as if I’m working with a living material that shifts and evolves just like we do.

While I appreciate the elegance of sterling silver and the luxury of gold, copper feels the most connected to the essence of what I create—handmade, intentional, and deeply personal talismans for everyday wear.

When you wear a piece of my copper jewelry, you’re not just wearing an accessory; you’re carrying a piece of history, energy, and intention with you. Whether you’re drawn to it for its beauty, its healing properties, or its spiritual significance, copper has a way of making itself known.

I hope you feel its magic as much as I do.
